Chiếc Cầu Trên Sông Kwai được hãng phim Columbia thực hiện từ nguyên tác của nhà văn Pierre Boulle phát hành năm 1952, kể lại câu chuyện những người lính tù binh Anh bị buộc phải làm một chiếc cầu bắc trên con sông Kwai, nằm trên tuyến đường sắt nối liền hai thành phố Bangkok (Thái Lan) và Rangoon (Miến Điện). Tác phẩm này dựa trên câu chuyện có thật xảy ra trong trại tù của phát-xít Nhật nằm bên bờ sông Kwai. Hàng nghìn tù binh Anh, Hà Lan, Úc, Mỹ, Canada đã bỏ mạng khi xây cầu và ngày nay, nằm trong địa phận của tỉnh Kanchanaburi (Thái Lan), nó là một tấm bia đá ghi mãi muôn đời về tội ác chiến tranh của phát-xít Nhật.
